NEUROLOGY FEDERATION OF UGANDA (NFA) is a legally registered, incorporated and licensed Professional Association as a Company Limited by Guarantee by the Government of the Republic of Uganda (Registration No 80034956076512/20204). This voluntary association was registered and incorporated in June 2024.The association brings together all Physician Neurologists (PNs) in Uganda with the major aim of bringing them together for professional development, professional fellowship, effectiveness and proficiency in service. 7 0. Objectives: |
The main objective for which the association is established are:
- To mobilize and organize all physician neurologists and other affiliated professionals involved in neurology medical services and care in Uganda who are qualified for membership.
- To standardize neurological medical services dispensed to the general public in Uganda.
- To provide a forum where by professional fellowship, social equity and unity can be achieved and maintained at all times amongst members of the association
- To provide a forum or avenue where members of the association can advocate for their professional rights and privileges.
- To advocate for participation in planning, policy-making and policy implementation and administration of neurological and general health care delivery services at all levels in the country.
- To improve and maintain the highest professional levels of neurological services in the country through professional development and continuous education programs.
- To carry out association’s day today activities and programs in partnership with other Uganda health care providers, professional associations and fraternize with any other relevant national or international professional bodies.
- To operate welfare schemes for the members as may be decided by the Annual General Meeting (AGM) from time to time.
- To legally solicit for funds or any support for the professional and career development of members of the association.
- To from time to time offer free services to the members of the public through planned outreach activities and medical camps.
Thematic Areas of Operations. |
Neurology Federation of Uganda (NFU) shall operate under three (03) key thematic areas and these are: Professional Development and Fellowship, Research and Advocacy as well as Community Transformation through health outreach programs.
- Professional Development and Fellowship.
Monthly Professional Fellowships |
To organize both physical and online professional fellowship meetings on a monthly basis for purposes of learning from one another and updating members skills and competencies.
Annual Scientific Professional Conferences |
To run annual based Scientific and Professional Conferences and Refresher Courses for purposes of professional enhancement.
Professional and Career Development |
Soliciting for Scholarships for Fellowships and Further Studies for registered and subscribed members (Short and long term courses and fellowships) for skill and competence enhancement.
- Research and Advocacy
Scientific Research and Relevant Publications |
The association shall from time to time apply for grants and financial support from government and other national and international agencies to support association’s work in scientific research and relevant publications. This shall be done majorly through partnership coordination and collaborations.
Professional Advocacy. |
The association shall strategically advocate for participation in planning, policy-making and policy implementation and administration of neurological and general health care service delivery at all levels in the country.
- Community Transformation through Health Outreach Initiatives.
Community Outreach Sensitization and Medical Camps |
Working in partnership with relevant government and private agencies, the association shall from time to time organize community health outreach sensitization programs and health/medical camps.
Radio and Television Talk shows on relevant topics |
In partnership with relevant agencies, the association shall run weekly and monthly neurology talk shows on radios and televisions as a way helping the public with or without neurological issues.
9. Association Leadership: |
The association shall be led and managed by the elected National Executive Committee (NEC) as per the precepts and guidelines of Neurology Federation of Uganda (NFU) constitution (Articles and Memorandum of Association.
10.0. Financing of the Association: |
The association shall finance its Projects, Programs and Activities (PPAs) through the following sources:
- Membership Fees (MF)
- Annual Subscriptions (AS)
- Grant Applications (GAs)
- Project Proposals Writing (PPW)
- Concept Papers (CPs)
- Partnership Programing (PP)
- Other lawful sources of funding.
